Alappuzha Beach, Alleppey Overview
Alappuzha Beach is commonly known as Alleppey Beach. It is quite well known for its local gateways. The old pier that stretches itself into the sea can be dated back to 150 years and the natural beauty of the beach adds to its attractions.
The beautiful palm groves seem to invite the visitors to relax under them. People just love picnicking at the beach. Besides, several festivals including Alappuzha Beach Festival and Sand Art festival are celebrated at the beach.
Though Alappuzha Beach is known for its pristine beauty, there are various attractions at and around the beach. There are a number of amusement activities at the Vijaya Beach Park that never fail to attract the visitors irrespective of what age they belong to. The Park also accommodates an old lighthouse that never fails to fascinate the visitors. The Nehru Trophy Boat Race is held every year in August and is one of the most popular attractions of Kerala.

Thrilling and exciting water sports at the backwaters are among the major attractions at the beach. You may choose from boat races, parasailing, motor boat riding and surfing. Each of these activities is not only highly refreshing, but also offers some of the interesting ways to explore the beautifully impressive terrain of the beach. Apart from enjoying the water sports in the Emerald Backwaters, you can also enjoy the experience of staying in a houseboat here. And who can forget the Snake Boat Races during the festivities of Onam? - Relaxing Activities
There are various Yoga based institutions near Alappuzha. Thus, you may relax by means of Yoga and/or meditation. As these relaxing sessions are usually held in the early mornings at these Yoga centers, you can enjoy the sunrise as well.

Vijaya Beach Park
The Park is located at 450 m from the beach. It houses a number of amusements that are enjoyed by all and specifically the children. As there are almost all kinds of rides, the park keeps the children engaged even for hours.
Open in between 10am – 6 pm, the Park also provides cycling, boating, and toy train activities. A 10 minutes ride charges INR 10 whereas for a Video Permit and Camera Permit, it is INR 25 and INR 5 respectively. Thus, Vijaya Beach Park, apart from being located near the Allepy Beach, is quite economical as well.
Alappuzha Lighthouse
It is the oldest lighthouse at Kerala at a distance of 300 m from the Alappuzha Beach. The construction of the lighthouse was finished in 1862 during the reign of the Travancore ruler Rama Varma Maharaja. It used to be among the busiest of the ports of Kerala and a highly important center for the trade. The lighthouse, a manned station attracts visitors even today as it stands tall and impressive even after 150 years of its construction.
How to Reach Alappuzha Beach?
You may hire auto rickshaws or a taxi at Alleppey and reach the beach. KSRTC, 4.5 km away from the beach is the closest bus stop.
