Amar Mahal Museum
King Raja Amar of Dogra built this royal family home in the late 1800s, designed by a French architect. Indian artisans helped construct this French chateau-like fort that was inhabited by the royal family.
Valuable collections of paintings, books, scriptures and sculptures now don the Mahal halls since its conversion to a museum. Family portraits of the royals of Jammu and Kashmir can be praised by the visitors. The Pahari paintings add to the rich cultural flavour. The centre of attention though stills stands to be the 120 kg solid gold throne of Maharaja Hari Singh.
