Balmuri Falls, Srirangapatna: Overview
Balmuri falls is a man-made waterfall situated in Srirangapatna town of Karnataka. It is a check dam built over the Kaveri River that ensures the water to descent from a height of 6 feet over the River Kaveri. Balmuri is a Kannada word that means to ‘curve right’, which in turn relates to the right turn the river takes at this place in Srirangapatna.
The place around this check dam provides a pleasurable sight. The shores are packed with beautiful green coconut palms and the water gushing out of the fall sparkles as the sun rays hit the check dam. The sight is so picturesque that the region has been used as a setting in several Bollywood and Kannada movies.
