Bay Island Driftwood Museum, Kumarakom Overview
Bay Island Driftwood Museum was founded by RajiPunnoose. He was a teacher at one of the schools at the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Museum is well-known for different types of the sculptures that are carved out of roots and the tree trunks. The art techniques employed to carve the sculptures are innovatively modern.
The sculptures made of driftwood are also displayed here. They comprise twisted trunks of the trees, roots and stumps etc. The collection comprises various shapes of the birds, reptiles, animals, amphibians, fish etc. Besides, the interestingly expansive curative techniques have enabled the Museum get enlisted in the Limca Books of Records.
