Bhadra Maruti, Aurangabad Overview
The Bhadra Maruti Temple is one of the holiest places in India and is located in the small town of Khuldabad in Maharashtra. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is one of the three temples in the entire country where an idol of Lord Hanuman is seen in reclining or Bhav Samadhi posture. The other two shrines which house Lord’s statute in similar posture are situated in Madhya Pradesh and Allahabad. This holy place lies in close proximity to Ellora Caves and receives a huge number of devotees especially during the Saturdays of the holy month of Sharavan.
There is an interesting legend associated with this temple. The ruler of Khuldabad, Raja Bhadrasen was a passionate devotee of Lord Rama. While offering prayers to the Lord, he used to sing melodious songs praising Lord Rama. Fascinated by such sweet voice, Lord Hanuman descended from heaven to visit the King. Deeply engrossed in the tunes, Lord Hanuman lied down in a sleeping posture and blessed the King.
