One of the best treksin Kerala is this trek to Chembra Peak and is amongst the most popular options. Necessary provisions have been made by the District Tourism Promotion Council in partnership with the Wayanad Forest Department Agency.
Surrounded by extensive landscapes of tea states is present the starting point of Chembra Peak. After a 1km walk, you will reach the viewpoint,and from there you can have a great view of Chembra Peak and its surrounding areas.Again after a 2 km walk, you will reach the heart-shaped Hridayathadakam Lake that offers you a beautiful view of nature.You can stay here for a few minutes and relax. Just after a 1 km climb from the lake, you reach your destination, i.e. ChembraPeak. Overall, it’s a 4.5 km long trek which will take between 2- 3 hours either side.
The trek is of the moderate level to the heart-shaped Hridayathadakam lake. After this, the trek becomes slightly difficult as the gradient becomes steeper.

Permit for Chembra Peak Trek:
You need to get prior permission before trekking in ChembraPeak from the office in Meppady. You can also contact an agent who can help you with this task as well as assistance for booking a hotel. After you apply, you will be given a pass which entitles you to trek in the designated area of the forest.
Best time to visit:
The best time to visit Chembra peak is between March to September. As at this time monsoon has just ended, so you will find a dense and lush greenforest with a cool and pleasant environment. If you are looking for the perfect time to visit Chembra Peak, it would be between February to March. As summers settle down, leaves get brown and yellow, and trees start shedding leaves which will give you perfect experience.
Visiting the place in Monson would not be suggested as the path gets slippery and unsafe, and weather also becomes non-cooperative.
Also, it is preferable to start your trek in the morning, so you can experience the morning freshness and soak in the majestic views.

Air:103 km away from the nearest Kozikhode International Airport.
Rail:79 km away from ChembraPeak base camp is the nearest railway station at Kozhikode. Best way to reach the base camp from the railway station is through state buses and cabs.
Road:If you are coming from Bangalore or Kozikhode you can get down at Kalpetta, and from there you can get a bus or taxi for base camp.
