In the history of northern Malabar,Ezhimala is one of the significant places that finds mention in the records. Even before the known history, books of Ramayana and the local legends associate relationship between Lord Hanuman and Ezhimala hills. It is believed that when Lord hanuman was carrying Sanjeevani herb for Lord Lakshman, he dropped these seven hills of Ezhimala. The history of Ezhimala hills also goes back to the time of Sangha period which was then ruled by Ezhimala kings and was there headquarters. Mooshika kings also ruled later. When the common era began, Ezhimala used to be a flourishing seaport as well as a centre for trade. Later on, in the 11th century, it also witnessed the war series of the CholaChera. This place also has a great charm because some people evolve that lord buddha also visited Ezhimala hills once. You will find relics at the foothills of Enzhimala such as burial chambers, granite platforms, carved stones, pillars and caves.
Statue of Lord Hanuman at Ezhimala:
Believed that Lord Hanuman dropped these seven hills of Ezhimala, there is a big statue of Lord Hanumansituated at this destination lined with other legends. This statue is said to be the largest statue of Lord Hanumanin the whole south India. The statue is made of concrete and is 41m tall. The temples situated near the stature attracts tourist from all over the nation. An ancient mosque near the temples is another site worth seeming.

The path that leads up the hill is beautiful and mesmerizing. Walking up the hill, tourist will find the old ruins of a mosque. A Muslim reformist named Shaikh Abdul Latheef is believed to be the home of his remnants. Best time to visit Enzhimala:
Vising Enzhimala in monsoons should be avoided, which is the period between June and September. It is not suitable to drive there in monsoon as the roads get slippery and have sharp bends.

- Care must be taken while commuting as the road up the destination is quite sinusoidal.
- If you wish to visit the Indian Naval Academy, keep in mind that prior permission is required.
- Due to the presence of Indian Naval Academy photography and videography is restricted in several areas.
How to reach Ezhimala:
Ramanthali is the nearest town to Enzhimala, and one can easily reach Enzhimala via Ramanthali. As regular busses play on this route and the town is just 2 km away from the Ezhimala so reaching the place easily is not an issue.
