Futala Lake, Nagpur Overview
Home to pristine lakes, Nagpur has eleven beautiful lakes that enhance the overall beauty of the city. Among these lakes, Futala Lake is known for its beautiful surrounding and calm water. Also known as Telankhedi Lake, this water body is situated on the western side of Nagpur, approximately 6 km away from the main city. The lake was created by Raja Bhosle 200 years ago and stretches over an area of about 60 acres. The most attractive aspect of this lake is the fountain which is brightly lit in colourful lights and hence, is a sight to behold.

What to expect at Futala Lake?
The Futala Lake will mesmerize you with its beautiful setting. The lake is guarded by high walls on all sides and has a narrow pathway that encircles the lake. The pathway is made of granite stone and is adorned with beautiful lamps, garden bays and benches. A small garden is also situated next to the lake and mainly house recreational activities for children. The best part of the lake is the water fountains. There are two fountains as tall as 15 feet, and the third fountain is 100 feet tall. For those who want to bath in the pristine cool water of the lagoon can visit the ghat on the southern end of the lake.

History of Futala Lake
Constructed 200 years ago, the Futala Lake was initially used as a water reservoir that supplied water to the region. The lagoon was built by Raja Bhosle during his reign over Nagpur. However, the lake could not withstand the harsh forces of nature and, has now lost its charm and sturdiness. These days, the maintenance work of the lake is undertaken by NIT, which receives funds from the Government of India for the same.

The most suitable time to plan a trip to Lake Futala is during the months from October to March. The weather during this time of the year is cool and pleasant and hence, will make your trip exciting and enjoyable at the same time.
How to Reach Futala Lake?
Situated very close to Amravati Road on the western side of Nagpur, Futala Lake can be reached by hiring a taxi or an auto-rickshaw from different parts of the city. You can take a bus or other public transports as well.
