Gangamoola, Kudremukh Overview
Gangamoola is a mountain at the height of 1458m above the sea level. It is alsoknown as the VarahaParvatha. This mountain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some rivers like Tungabhadra and Nethravati have their source lying here.
The mountain is a site for many attractions like the temple of Goddess Bhagavathi, also a cave having an image of Varaha which is said to be 6 feet tall. These mountains are a rich source of mineral deposits like magnetite-quartzite. The mountain provides a home to more than 107 species of birds and hence, is also considered as a hotspot.
