Hajo Powa Mecca, Hajo Overview
The Hajo Powa Mecca is a very popular shrine of the Muslims in India. It is said that a visit to this shrine is equal to one fourth of the visit of the original Mecca in the United Arab Emirates. This is why the shrine was named Powa Mecca, where the word ‘Powa’ means one fourth. The shrine houses a Muslim saint Pir Giasuddin Auliya, who propagated Islam during his time. The shrine was built in the year 1657 by Mir Lutufullah-i-Shiraj. It is said that the Mughal ruler Shahjahan ordered the construction of the shrine. It is also believed some soil was brought from the pilgrim site of Mecca to lay the foundation of Hajo Powa Mecca.
