Hauz Khas Village, Delhi Overview
Hauz Khas is a well-developed neighborhood located on the southern side of the capital city, New Delhi. This is one of the major tourist places in Delhi. The village is famous for being surrounded by colossal and well-designed buildings. Located to the north and south of Hauz Khas are the Gulmohar Park and Sarvapriya Vihar respectively. Formerly famous as Hauz-e-Alai, Hauz Khas Village happens to be the historical site that emphasizes the victory of Ghazi Malik, Dipalpur Governor. It was designed by Alauddin Khilji to provide water to the people residing in Siri Fort. The place gets its name from the huge water reservoir ‘Hauz Khas’.
The site dates back to an ancient era when the South Delhi did not exist. Hauz Khas, which once happened to be the simple and village-like area, started turning into a modernized society in the mid-1980s. A decade later, people started building restaurants and modernized pubs and bars in the area (transforming the village into a modernized place). Tourists schedule a visit to the village in the morning or evening time to capture the wonderful sunset view. The place is a blend of ancient charm and a modernized city, with beautiful and well-maintained parks surrounding the place.
Hauz Khas is also popular for its vibrant nightlife. From partying at a club to having the most delicious north-Indian cuisines, tourists get a lot to explore around this village. Art galleries, restaurants, pubs, bars, boutiques, and cafes make Hauz Khas an urbanized area in Delhi. Walk up to the nearest café to enjoy the delicious evening snacks or hit the nightclub to have some fun time. Schedule a visit to Hauz Khas on weekends to get to attend the live events hosted by the restaurants and cafes. You are going to find popular stand-up comedians and singers performing here. Overall, it is a one-stop platform for party junkies and history buffs.
