Hemis High Altitude Wildlife Sanctuary
Home to the vulnerable snow leopard, the Hemis High Altitude Wildlife Sanctuary is the highest wildlife sanctuary in the world at an altitude of 3,300 to 6000m. Other than that, it is also the largest park of South Asia.
You can expect serene nature walks amongst a vast selection of flora in their natural habitat and the chirping of 73 varieties of registered birds in this wildlife sanctuary. Expect the valley area to be covered with steppe and alpine trees. Some animal species found here include ibex, shapu, bharal amongst others.
