Iruppu waterfalls originate from the Lakshmana Tirtha River which is a tributary of the Kaveri river. These waterfalls have a mythological significance and there is an interesting story behind the origin of this waterfall. It is said that while Lord Rama and Lakshmana were searching for Sita, they got thirsty. In order to quench the thirst, Lord Lakshmana shot an arrow at the Brahmagiri Hill and from that particular spot the Lakshmana Tirtha River oozed out.
Monsoons are the ideal time to visit Iruppu Falls as during this time you will get to see a breathtaking view of the water gushing along the cliff. You should also visit The Rameshwara Temple which is located near these falls.
