Located at Alappuzha District, Island of Pathiramanal is a paradise for ornithologists. It is a natural habitat to various species of birds. The very word ‘Pathiramanal’ that the island derives its name from stands for ‘sands of night’. Situated at the middle of the Venbanad Lake, the island is home to various birds including pintail duck, darter, common teal, Indian shag etc. The island is accessible only by means of the backwater cruises, motor boats and speed boats etc.
