The Jog Falls is situated on the border of Uttara Kannada and Shimoga district of Karnataka. It is the highest waterfall in Karnataka but not the highest waterfall in India, which is often mistaken by people. The Jog Falls is also popularly known as Joga Falls or Gerosappa Falls by the locals and tourists. Among all the single fall, the Jog fall is second to the Meghalaya’s Nohkalikai Falls. A dam called the Linganamakki Dam was constructed near the fall due to which the water flow of the falls is often restricted in the monsoon period.
