Narayanappa
The place is a well-known pilgrimage devoted to Narayanappa who inhabited this place in the later part of the 18th and at the beginning of the 19th century. The city got its name from the famous poet who wrote in more than one language. He wrote several poems which include poems dedicated to Lord Amara Narayanaswamy in Kannada and Telugu.
Places to visit in Kaivara
The Amaranarayana Temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu and is known for its wonderful architecture. Four sculpted pillars with intricately sculpted motifs are what makes it look so beautiful. According to mythology, Lord Rama lived with his wife Sita in Aranya Rama temple which is situated close to Amaranarayana temple. It is said that when the Pandavas were living in exile, Bheema killed Bakasura here. To respect Bheema’s deed, the Bheemeswara Temple was constructed. Narayanappa Mutt is an ashram dedicated to the famous Telugu/Kannada artist who composed and wrote in these languages as well as Saint Narayanappa, who sold bangles as per legend.
Yoganarasimha Swamy Temple is situated on top of a small hill named Vaikunta where Naraynappa is believed to have meditated for three years. The temple houses his statue and an intricately designed prayer room which gives a beautiful sight of the hills.
How to reach Kaivara
You may avail KSRTC buses from Majestic Bus Stand in Bangalore. After disembarking at Kaivara Cross, you can choose to take an auto to travel in the town.
