Kishtwar National Park
Part of the Kishtwar district of Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir, Kishtwar is located on a plateau above the river Chenab. Also situated next to the nagin sheer glacier, the area sees saffron growth in a limited amount of time. Summer is the saffron harvesting season and it is considered a festival to be celebrated. The national park covers an area of 400 sq km. It is home to 15 species of mammals including the musk deer and the Himalayan black and brown bear. One of the few high altitude wildlife sanctuaries in the state, Kishtwar has its own special place because of the vast number of flora and fauna it houses.

Opt for trekking shoes, light clothing and always carry a raincoat during your summer visit. Carry trekking shoes, heavy wool, waterproof windcheater for the winter.

- Air: Jammu is the closest airport to Kishtwar national park at a distance of 250 km.
- Rail: Jammu Tawi is also the nearest railway station at a distance of 248 km.
- Road: The road goes up to Ikhala through which bus services are available till Palmer, 20 km from Kishtwar. Further up, you can trek or travel horseback.
