Brief Summary Of Korigad Trek
The Korigad Trek, can be found at about 20km ahead while approaching the south of Lonavla close to the city of Pune. Korigad is very well known to the locals in Pune.
You would have to climb all the way up to get into the building, this is a regular exercise meant for trekkers.
The fort was built in the 1500s amongst others like the First city valley, the Aamby valley which is located on the Eastern and also on the southern foothills of Korigad. The fort was then committed to the Goddess Koraidevi whose abode is specifically placed at the peak fort.
The fort has full wholesomeness having it walls intact, and a wide perimeter of passageway 2Km long. There is a cave underneath the face of the fort and a reservoir for water. You will find two wide stretch lakes as yet and outstretch atop the citadel.
The temple was also dedicated to his name. You would also find the other cannons like the temple Shiva and Vishnu at the top of the fort. The view from the top of the fort is sternly an awesome view of the Aamby valley City. The valley was created by the Sahara, Tung and Tikona.
How to get to Korigad Trek
To reach the top of the fort there are two pathways;
You can head up through the staircase and also via the jungles by foot with a 15 minutes walk up after which you will find the steps that would lift you to the top of the fort. You will realize that there are about a hundred slabs of the old stairs while climbing up.
This second route allows you to climb on the steps carved out of Rocky stones which is quite dicey and uncertain about the steps u might have to take without been sure of it’s strength.
That’s why the first route has always been preferred as convenient.
Means of Getting to Korigad Trek
Rail is a common and fast means of movement, as there are 17 local trains headed to the hill station of Lonavla.
At times trains plying between the Mumbai-Kalyan route usually makes a stop at the station to pick up commuters.
Road
You can arrange for a local and direct cab or a jeep for the steep road. This can be arranged from Lonavla through the base of the village.
NH 4 can connect Pune and Lonavla through the Bushi dam.
