Kudremukh
This mountain with the most picturesque view has its name as Kudremukh after the horse-face shape due to which it has gained much popularity as a tourist place. It is famous for both its biodiversity and scenic beauty including the varieties of flora and fauna. This hill station is famous amongst the people of Bangalore andis located in the Chikamagalur district of Karnataka. It still stands in all its mighty inspite of the threats that it faces due to the changing ecology. It has become a famous biodiversity hotspot with its natural beauty attracting many trekkers and naturalists alike. It is located at the height of about 1894 m above the sea level and has a lot of mountainous paths to trek on. Another peak known as the VarahaParvatha at the height of almost 1458 m above the sea level is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Wildlife of the Western Ghats
Kudremukh, along with its beautiful scenery, gives out a lot of options to trek on. This peak located along the western Ghats gives out a lot of opportunities for the tourist to go in search of the wildlife in the mountains. This trek along the path of Kudremukh mountain takes you alongside the wildlife sanctuary where a large number of animals including, tigers, leopards, wild dogs can be seen. This trek begins at the foot where Mullodi is situated. After going up on a one-way road, you reach up to the peak situated at 1894 m above the sea level to get the most breathtaking view of the surrounding area. The various streams and waterfalls can be spotted during this trek. The aromatic coffee plantation can also be noticed around this area. During the trek, one can spot the famous waterfall, the Hanuman Gundi Falls. Among the high standing mountains, this fall is a water cascade to take away your breath.

Well, not many options can be found for the foodies. However, the famous dhabas and restaurants give out the delicious food available. The local South Indian dishes include the Dosa, Idli, Uppittu, Kesari Bath, Vangi Bath and other traditional Mysore sweets like Mysore Pak, Chiroti, etc.
Itinerary
Day 1- Get to Kudremukh. Check-in at a nearby hotel. Go out for the famous Kudremukh trek after a good breakfast. Get on the top of the peak about 1894 m above the sea level and enjoy the breathtaking view. Visiting the Kaleshwari Devi temple and Kalasa pond after completing the trek. The temple is also found to be dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the pond is considered to be a sacred pond. Then by evening, get back to the hotel.
Day 2- Visit the KudremukhNational Park and enjoy flora and fauna in the park. One can spot various amount of wildlife in the national park and hence enjoy the view. The Hanuman Gundi Falls is also one of the places which can be visited while going through the national park.
