The place that was formally known as Lal Mahal was Maratha lord Shivaji’s place of birth given to him by his parents.
Lal Mahal (Marathas) is the battle ground where Shivaji championed the guerrilla attack by the Shaesta Khan and his army.
By the 17th century it was destroyed and later revived a little bit by a person in the name of Peshwas. A complete reconstruction by municipality turned it into a memorial place that has various models and Paintings that shows knowledge of the life and history of Shivaji and Jijabai’s.
