It is a Tourist centre, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site, a project Tiger Reserve, an Elephant Reserve and a Biosphere Reserve in Assam. It is also the only tiger reserve in Assam and is famous for the golden rare golden langur and the red panda. Manas is known to be one of the best-kept national parks in India
Manas is known for its spectacular scenery and natural landscape which include forest hills, tropical evergreen forest and alluvial. It is also recognized for its rich blend of culture. It serves as a home to India’s second largest Tiger population and is famous for its population of the wild water Buffalo. IUCN Red Book listed Manas as a harbour to the maximum number of endangered species from India. Rides are arranged by forest official on elephant from Mathanguri for visitors to Manas. Tea pickers are seen going about their job in group during the tea season. October till first week of December and from mid March onwards are the best time to see activity
