Overview of Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary, Shimoga (Shivamogga)
Situated near the River Tunga, Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary is a small and beautiful island and is 32 km away from Shimoga city. It is also close to Thirthahalli, which is a panchayat town lying on the banks of river Tunga.
The Shettihalli Wildlife Sanctuary and Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary lie in close proximity and have rich biodiversities in form of rare species of plants, reptiles, and birds. The ideal time to tour the island is during the months of July to October. It is during this time of the year, the island is populated by seasonal birds such as egret, darter, snake-bird and cormorant.
