The RAAS festival is celebrated annually and it is quite important in North East India, usually celebrated in Assam as it is a cultural and religious festival. It is scheduled to take place in November every year. This festival lasts for as long as 11 days in the presence of Hari Mandir. RAAS translates to mean “dancing in delight”. Later on, the centre of the festival was moved to where it is now celebrated, the Hari Mandir due to the increasing numbers of visitors. Years ago, Brahmins of the upper cast alone showcased the idols during the festival and forbade the lower castes from doing the same. The hall ate Hari Mandir holds a gorgeous idol of Radha-Krishna where the main RAAS pooja is. Furthermore, countless other stores displaying Idols shows a range of events such as events that occurred during the time of Lord Krishna to develop other events.
