The gallery started the collection of the modern arts by buying Gil’s Paintings (Amrita Sher). In fact, Tagore’s and Gil’s paintings contributed to half of the total collection in the gallery. In addition to paintings, the museum features sculptures by popular sculptors Ramkinkar Baij, D. P. Roy Chaudhary, Meera Mukherjee, Sudarshan Shetty, Nagji Patel, Mahendra Pandya, Pradosh Das Gupta, and more.
