Extra Information About Osho Ashram; The History Of Osho Ashram
The person who was famous as Osho went by the name Chandra Jain Mohan and he lived for 59 years from the 11th of December 1931 when he was born to the 19th of January 1990 when he passed on. He was also known as Acharya Rajneesh or Rajneesh. People knew him to be a spiritual head and a mystic. He was well traveled in the whole of India and as a result of his numerous travels, he was known as a public speaker. People also saw him as a fearless leader because mostly spoke to the masses about the sexuality of the human body. A few years later, he incorporated some followers that he called the neo-sannyasins. He later moved to Pune and began his foundation Ashram sometime in the year 1974. In the year 1990, he passed on in the resuscitated Pune Ashram. The present Osho code of conduct came about as a result of his teachings, its primary focus is about issues such as; love and celebration, humor, importance of meditation, different belief system, creativity and religious tradition. Joining the spiritual teachings of Guatama Buddha with enthusiasm and energy as it was displayed by Kazantzakis Nikos was the main concept of Osho. Indigenous Indians vigorously declined to his teachings but along the line, a lot of people started to embrace his teachings including notable public figures like Mr Khanna Vinod. Acharya Rajneesh who is also known as Osho have always been thought to be amongst the most controversial spiritual heads in India. He was largely criticised because of his teachings on sex, duly, relationships and marriages which were totally different from the known traditional values. He later became a notable spiritual leader after he became very famous. His fame also helped people to accept him and his teachings. As a matter of fact, several movies and books concerning his teachings later emerged.
What Osho Ashram Is Like
There is a resort which is situated in Pune and called the Osho International Meditation Resort. The Osho resort is at the Koregaon Park located in Pune. To get to the resort, you wi’ll need to walk for approximately 1 km which is the distance from the road to the resort. The area around the resort is green and lovely, giving it a sense of a high class environment. As far as accommodation is concerned, there is the option to select the Osho living program or just stay in the Osho guest house. You also have the choice to stay in any of the hotels and service apartments around the Osho resort as you go through the sessions of meditation. There is also provision of shuttle to aid those who are coming from outside the resort. Members often come in very early in the morning whilst they go back to their various hotels once dinner is over in the evening. There are lots of activities to indulge in daily which starts at 6:00 in the morning and runs till 10:30 in the evenings. There is the option of both passive and active meditation to select from depending of the type of people involved. Osho has the biggest meditation hall in the world which is the Osho Auditorium. Apart from meditations and spirituality, Osho offers sumptuous dishes at the place of dinning. They serve lovely vegetarian dishes. Once you are inside the Ashram, there is a strict code of dressing which must be adhered to. When it is night everybody just wear white robes with no inscriptions or design on it, whilst during the night, the robe color is deep maroon. If you want to take a dive into the water then you must put on a maroon colored swimsuit. Very close to the Osho resort you’ll find very standard medical centres if the need ever arises.
Osho Ashram Cost
At the Osho Ashram, there is the opportunity to buy a single day sticker that grants you entrance and affords you the options of both the Buddha Grove classes held in the open air and also a full meditation event.
The tickets can be bought for a period of 30 days or for a period of 1-10 days. The price is as follows;
For international visitors – INR 1,790 For a day. Although there could be a discount which is largely dependent on the number of days purchased and also the time of purchase.
For Indians – the price for a day is INR 870.
The price of accommodation in the Osho resort is maxed at about INR 20,000 while the least amount is about INR 15,000. If you intend registering at the Osho International Meditation Resort then you need to make it to the reception as early as 9:00 AM. Although registration often ends at 3:30 PM. There is a break For lunch from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.
For registration, Indians need to come along with a valid means of identification whilst international visitors are required to have their passport with them. There will also be HIV screening at the point of registration. Registration includes digital photo, gate access and a chance to take part in welcome morning. The price for registration is INR 1,250 but does not include the entry sticker purchased daily. The welcome morning package covers orientation to the Osho Multiversity programs, an individual experience of all activities like campus tour, detailed introduction of the meditations and what to expect. There is also need to buy the right clothes to be worn in the premises. The pricing are: INR 700 – this covers the shawl and the socks.
INR 1,600 – this is the coat for the meditation kit
INR 2,000 – this is the cost for two robes to be worn.
Points to Note When Visiting Osho Ashram
* adults below the age of 30 are advised to visit Osho Ashram only if they have sincere enthusiasm
* During the holidays, children still in school are welcome to visit Osho Ashram
* Parents bringing their kids are encouraged to make provisions for their care because Osho Ashram does not offer any daycare sort of service
* Any child not up to 12 years must be guided by their parents
* Be very careful if you have minors in your Care.
Best Way to Get to Osho Ashram
To get to the Osho resort which is at the Koregaon Park and about two kilometers close to the railway, you can use a rickshaw or ride on a bus. Another way to get there is by using any of the ride-sharing application to order a ride that will take you to the place. Get ready to take a short distance walk from the road to the main entrance of Osho Ashram. You’ll need an approximate walk of 1 KM of walk to get to the major gate of the Ashram. When approaching the Ashram, you will see how green the environment is which gives it a peaceful feeling.
