Querim Beach, Goa Overview
The beaches in the north Goa are usually referred to as the ‘Party Capital’ of the state. However, quite a few of the beaches are exception to the norm. Rather, they are known for their calm serenity. And Querim, also known as Keri is known for being a calm, quiet and serene beach. It is the northernmost beach of Goa.
The Querim Beach is located just right to a temple called ‘Ajoba Temple’. The sand is a beautiful golden. The beach lies at the mouth of the river Terekhol as it flows into the Arabian Sea. You may catch a ferry and reach the Terekhol Fort situated at the shore of the beach.
Querim Beach is not so popular as compared with Mandrem or Arambol Beach. And that explains why there are only a few of the shacks at the beach that provide the local cuisine including Vindaloo, Sorpotel or Fish Fry. Also, Querim might not appear on your list of the favourite holiday destinations if you want to enjoy the Goan nightlife. But the beach is of course perfect for those who want to relax at a cool, calm and quiet place.
There are Casuarina trees along the coastline. Thus, the shore is well protected against any kind of erosion. The area is a favourite haunt for those who love to fish for various reasons, be it for fun or livelihood. The village is a prominent fishing Goan village. The background to the beach looks picturesque with the beautiful Arambol mountain. The beach presents a calm, quiet and peaceful side of Goa in sharp contrast to its commercial site.

Accommodation at Querim Beach
The backpackers usually prefer the No Name hostel or the Dreamcatchers hostel. But the visitors who feel like opting for more sophisticated accommodations can choose from various stays available at Arambol in the neighbourhood. And as not many of the accommodation options are available at Querim, it is advisable to stay at Arambol and Querim is just 20 mins distance from here if you travel by road.
Things to Do At Querim Beach
There sre no prominent water sport activities for Querim is known to be a calmer and quieter beach than most of its counterparts. However, during the peak season in between November to March, some of the kite surfers may be spotted here. You may also choose to relax at one of the shacks reading a book. Paragliding on the adjacent hills is also a thrilling option. Trekking over the hills and rocks is also quite popular.
There are various shacks where you can chill. The popular ones include Omkar Beach Shack, Dolphins, God’s Gift Shack etc. All of these are budget friendly and offer good beer and food. In order to enjoy a better experience of gourmet, you may visit Arambol Beach. There are various temples at the beach including Ravalnath Temple and Ajoba Temple. It also gives a genuine picture of the local culture. Querim Beach lies near the Terekhol Fort or Tiracol. You may catch a ferry to move to and back from the Fort. Though the Fort is now transformed into a heritage hotel, looking around the Fort and enjoying a meal there is an interesting experience.
If you really want to get a feel of the beach, walk into the thick Arambol woods located behind the Sweet Water Lake at Kalacha Beach or Paliem and you would find yourself at a hillock adjacent to Querim. Climb down the hillock and you would stand at the beach shore!
How to Reach Querim Beach? From Arambol, you may move to Querim following the Pernem-Agarwada-Morjim road – NH66 that would lead to the Pernem village. Now, follow the Querim-Arambol-Agarwada road on MDR17 to reach the beach. You would go across a number of lanes well shaded by coconut, jackfruit and mango trees. You would also be required to move across Terekhol River to arrive at the beach that is 50 km from Panjim. Thus, going by your own convenyance is better instead of travelling by public transport.
