General Tips and Tricks
The months from June to September are considered optimal for rafting in Tiuni. Don’t miss out on any instructions by the rafting instructors. The activity is usually done in the groups of 4, 6 or 8, you can choose yours as per your convenience. Prior rafting experience is recommended before jumping into the activity here. How to Reach Ladakh
- Air: Leh, the capital of Ladakh, holds the nearest airbase to the rafting site. From this airport, you can connect to cities like Jammu, Srinagar, Chandigarh and Delhi by Indian Airlines.
- Rail: The nearest railway station to Zanskar valley is Jammu Tawi. It is about 690 km away and connects the state to most of the major cities all over the country through express trains.
- Road: The summer season makes it possible for tourists to reach Leh by road via the State Highway. While the Srinagar route takes about two days to reach Leh, that route is not recommended anymore owing to the unrest in the valley. Bus services are provided between the cities on alternate days from July to October. The rest of the year, the roads are closed down due to heavy snowfall. You can also hire a vehicle from Kargil to reach Padum.
