It is a massive pavilion built in the form of a semicircle for the visitors to get the best view. It is the best location to watch sunrise and sunset , this being the reason behind the overcrowding of this place. The beauty and the grandeur of the place give us an idea of how the royalty spent their leisure time back then.
Toy Train Ride at Raja’s Seat
The toy train on Raja’s seat is just the cherry on the cake. Being devoid of railways, the toy train is the only operable railway of the place. The train goes around the garden giving the best possible views and insights into it. For just 20 INR per person, you can feel the joy of being a child again!
Gandhi Mantap
Located at the centre of a garden named Gandhi Mantap, the place is named so in honour of Mahatma Gandhi who visited Coorg and addressed the locals in 1934. The Sarvodaya divas is celebrated the day Mahatma Gandhi was murdered. It is the only place apart from Delhi where the remains of Gandhi are preserved. Every year a procession is arranged to honour Mahatma Gandhi and an urn containing his preserves are brought to Raja’s seat.
History of Raja’s Seat
Constructed with brick and mortar, it represents the seat of a king consisting of four pillars, bridged by arches. The seat gives the best view of the humungous mountain ranges and valleys around the place. It also gives an astounding view of the sunset since it faces the West.
