Shopping in Vaishno Devi
Most visitors come here to worship at the temple of Vaishno Devi but it can also serve as a shopping destination. Mostly, you can find people shopping for prasad, saris and shawls in the local markets that are offered to the goddess at the temple. Pilgrims also buy gold and silver coins with images of gods and goddesses embossed on it. You can also find yourself amidst shops selling bangles, embroidered artefacts, saris and suits.
A few shops can also be found in the Vaishno compound. However, Katra houses the main bazar and anything and everything related to Jammu can be found here. Even dry fruits like walnuts, almonds, berries and dried apples can be found here.
The traditional goods offered to gods and goddesses at the temple can be bought from the Katra market. Wide varieties of traditional shawls, fabrics and Kashmiri motifs can be found at the Sanjhi Chhat market.
